Meet Celeste

I had tried LA Weight Loss, Weight Watchers and numerous fad diets. I would always lose weight, then when I quit following the diet I would gain the weight back and sometimes more. Both my sisters were FitMetabolism weight loss members, and I was at a point in my life where I was so unhappy with myself. When I saw the results my sisters were having I thought it was worth a shot!!

I have lost over 50 pounds in a year and have been keeping the weight off. The Fitmethod has given me more self confidence in myself and belief that I can do anything I set my mind to. The program works for me because it works around my life; my life doesn’t have to work around the program.

Meet Karen

Consistently I am asked about my success, and I explain how skeptical I was when I started and how I wouldn’t tell anyone what I was doing, because I feared the failure again. Now, I brag about how the Fitmethod is a way of life for me – a journey to better health for me – a true life changing experience of learning and being in control of my own health. It is a guided journey to health (since that is not the area I specialize in) so as I travel down the road, my guide is there to help explain the challenges, the bumps, the roadblocks, etc. and how together we can figure out a new path and a way to overcome these. Each step has been successful as I have travelled this road to health – I have learned about my struggles, my fears, my successes and I have had support for each step I have taken. Funny, every person that has fought the battle of weight knows that it is often more about the “unsaid” fears, the emotional struggles, the struggles life has thrown at us, the stress we deal with that has resulted in the Weight Gain. Now I understand this side of my battle as well.

This program is about getting real with yourself – being willing to face each day with honesty. It is NOT about doing this or that, NOT eating this or that, denying myself every pleasure in order to find success at losing weight. This program is about having a Life Coach to walk with you through each day, each decision and to teach you – help you understand as you discover how to life a healthy life – Your Healthy Life! This program is about Yes, I can … I can eat what I want, when I want – it’s about learning to do it with mental awareness and how I process it. Making informed decisions and always using the guiding principle of how this will lead me to Living Healthy – then deciding what I will have and how much I will have.

Meet Donna

One of my first questions about the Fitmethod was, “What is the success rate of this program?” I had tried other diets and workout programs in the past and was frustrated because they weren’t realistic to maintain long term, results were slow and painful and my weight always came back. My coach’s response was “100% – when people apply the information”. I was worried – would I ever eat my beloved popcorn again? Yes I would! The Fitmethod is so amazing because I can eat basically whatever “I choose”. Choice is an important key for my success. My coach did not tell me what to eat, but rather educated me about food, provided recommendations and left the choices up to me.

So far I have gained a body that is 27 lbs. lighter, decreased body fat and definitely stronger!! I have never experienced these kinds of results before – and I have tons of new found energy! I am a 49 year old, 5 foot tall, woman – in the world of typical weight loss; these are 3 strikes against me. At FitMetabolism, these 3 criteria were used to help determine what I needed to do to be successful.

Meet Kathleen

When I first saw the FitMetabolism sign, I would never have guessed that it would have led me to where I am now. Before I came to FM, I had tried several other diets and fads, some of which included the South Beach Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet, Atkins, and finishing with Herbal Magic. I weighed 209 lbs at my heaviest, and at just over 5 feet tall, I was pretty round. I will give Herbal Magic Credit, I did lose 60 lbs on their plan, but like all the rest, I was just another person who was “not following the diet because the diet works if you follow it”. It got increasingly expensive trying to keep up with the “magic herbs” and I was ashamed and felt like a failure for not being able to overcome the plateau. I eventually quit and regained about 30 lbs.

One day while I was out walking at lunch, I saw the FM placard on the Stepper Center sign and got curious. When I got back to work, which is conveniently located in the building right next to the Stepper Center, I did a Google search to see what they were about. I called and booked an appointment, and the rest, as they say, is history!
What I found by joining FM is unconditional coaching and support with a plan that is built around me as an individual. If something isn’t working, it has never been how can we make you fit our plan, but rather how can we make our system fit you. Through the constant coaching and support I have found the power and courage to complete things that I never thought possible, and was convinced I could never do. All through school, university, and even as an adult, I knew I had the physical strength and power for lifting weight, but I had always convinced myself that I wasn’t built to run. In three years with FM I have since completed multiple 5-10 km runs, a sprint triathlon, and two half marathons. I have already got a full marathon in mind just because I know I can!

I have received amazing coaching from Craig during my weight loss journey. He is always there to celebrate the victories, no matter how small, and there to help lift me up when I stumble. There are never accusations or pointed fingers, it just how can WE do better going forward. That being said, he also knows when it is time to give me a good dose of accountability when it’s needed!

The weekly CBurn classes for members have been a great addition for me. Not only have I had the chance to meet and become friends with some truly inspirational people, I have had the chance to be coached by Zac. Zac is very quick to realize an individual’s potential and knows just how to challenge them so that they can achieve the best results possible. He is extremely charismatic and has provided the positive motivation for me to push harder and stronger in class, challenging myself to higher expectations.

Would I recommend FitMetabolism to anyone? In a heartbeat!! I tell anyone that will listen about my experience with FM. I will admit the first time I walked in, I was very intimidated. My first thought was gosh, how are these people going to understand what I am going through, and the struggles that I have? Karin was the first person I met. She has the warmest smile, and a very caring and friendly personality that immediately helps to put you at ease. Then I met Craig, and after a few minutes of talking to him I completely forgot that I was intimidated, and started to understand that not only do they see me as an individual, but they understand the struggle. They may not have had struggles with weight, but they have their own struggles trying to attain their own goals which allow them to understand the journey that their weight loss clients are travelling. For me, having the science based research as the basis for their methodology is great, and as the research changes and new things and thoughts are revealed their system evolves, grows, and changes to better suit the clients. All of this is what helps them do the amazing job they do. Even the other coaches that work there know me by name, and when they ask how I am doing, they really care; it’s not just a passing greeting that you say to be polite. FitMetabolism is no longer the weight loss clinic that I go to, it has become a family that I can’t live without. All of them have saved my life, and I am a better person for it.
I have spent 30 years being overweight. I was teased throughout my life because of it. I had no real sense of self image, confidence, or worth. Now at age 36, I am healthier, fitter, and stronger then I was then. Thanks to my Fit family, I no longer settle for being better, I only go for being best!

Meet Lorretta

FitMetabolism was recommended to me by my chiropractor. I had mentioned to him that I wanted to lose some weight and he said that FitMetabolism approached weight loss scientifically and had proven methods to keep weight off long-term. As a 42 year old mother of 2 girls (ages 5 and 2), it is important to me to model a healthy diet and lifestyle, and although I worked out regularly (cardio, weights and yoga), something wasn’t working. My 5’2” frame was packing 168 lbs, although when I tell people how much I used to weigh, they don’t believe me. But still, I didn’t feel good about myself and it was time for a change. Since starting my program on September 17, 2010, I’ve gone from 168 lbs and 42 % body fat to 133 lbs and 24% body fat. My outside image now matches my inner one. What follows are some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

What I’ve Learned

It is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Not 50/50. And an extra 10 minutes on the elliptical doesn’t really cancel out that piece of cheesecake.
It is all about balance – food, exercise and attitude. I was told by everyone at FitMetabolism that it was a lifestyle, not a diet. I think at the beginning I needed a bit of convincing, but I chose to go there and invest my time and money in the program – I figured I would give it the best I’ve got. I get the lifestyle thing now. They were right.

It’s also about eating to live and not living to eat.

I can quite easily go without that cookie. Admittedly, there are times when I really want one, and I’ve learned how I can have that cookie once in a while. Just not four of them. Every day. For lunch.

The program that they designed was doable. I simply did what I was told, and I saw fantastic results. Some days were harder than others, granted, but I trusted Craig as the expert to guide me in the right direction. He did.

I understand the need to exercise now – not grudgingly going to the gym just to get through a workout but to have the genuine urge to do it. I’ve experienced that rush – feeling good (but tired) as I do it and feeling great (and strong) afterward.

As someone who professed that I couldn’t run even if something really big was chasing me, I now know the joy of racing my five year old across the field because she wanted to. And I could actually keep up with her and breathe when we were done. Listening to her giggle the whole time made the effort worth it!

I can play on the floor with my girls more easily now. I always have got down on the floor and played with them, but it is easier and more enjoyable when I am not carrying an extra 35 lbs on my frame.

UPDATE: 1.5 years later

This testimonial was first written a year and a half (or so) after becoming a client. I am now approaching my 46th birthday, feel (and look) healthier and more confident than I did in my 20s and am still maintaining the Fit lifestyle. Since first writing this, I’ve learned some additional lessons:
Roll with what life gives you each day, and don’t beat yourself up if things don’t go as planned; remember to start fresh each morning, though.
Keep learning about yourself and keep reflecting on the choices you make – it is one of the keys to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Look after yourself – being selfish is not a bad thing.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is effort but I (and my family) am worth it. I owe it to myself (and to them) to be the best that I can be.

UPDATE: 5 years later

It has been just over 5 years since I first started at FM.  With their support and guidance, I have successfully kept the weight off and (more importantly) maintained a healthy lifestyle.   I started downhill skiing last year for the first time in my life, which I never would have done had I not felt healthy and strong.

Like everybody does, I still struggle with emotional eating, but I have learned that logging my food and having regular coaching sessions with Craig has given me tools to help deal with those tough times.  Each day is a fresh start to be the best I can.

Getting fit with FitMetabolism has helped me to realize a fuller life and be a positive role model for my daughters.   It is not about ‘being skinny’ or losing weight but about being strong and healthy.
