We created and utilize the Fitmethod, which is not a diet or a short-term weight loss regime. It is a long-term approach, combining the science of food and metabolism with a highly structured and personal support system.

Yes, regardless of size, age, lifestyle or phase of life the Fitmethod delivers permanent weight loss when other programs have failed you. Customized just for you, our system offers options you may have not even realized are available and will help you be successful in achieving your goal.

No, there is no cardboard, dehydrated or prepackaged food here! You and your weight loss coach will work together to create a food and exercise plan that you can actually live with (and enjoy!). This means being able to buy normal food from a typical grocery store and being able to eat the same things as your family and friends.

We often receive the questions “Are your services covered?” “Can I claim through my Health Spending Account (HSA)?” or “Can I claim FitMetabolism as an eligible medical expense on my taxes?”

The honest answers to these questions are, it depends. Here is a brief summary from our experience:

Covered
Yes Fitness and Wellness accounts cover our services.

Sometimes covered
From our experience HSA coverage depends on the particular insurance carrier. We advise our members to contact their carriers to determine if our services will be covered.

Medical expenses
On occasions our members have approached their physicians to obtain a letter indicating that “weight loss management” is required. Members have notified us that this approach has been successful. Regarding medical expense eligibility however, it is likely best to consult an expert in the accounting or tax field.

Start-up (one time)

Metabolism assessment
During this appointment you will rest in our comfortable chair while we measure the amount of energy (in calories) that your body uses in 24-hour period at rest. This information allows us to customize your nutrition plan to your body.

Nutrition Program
During this appointment your coach will utilize your metabolism assessment to create a customize nutrition plan for your body. Your coach will give full consideration to your preferences, lifestyle and habits to build you a nutrition plan that represents both who you are, as well as your goals.

Coaching membership (monthly)

Weight loss phase
In our weight loss phase we offer two levels of membership:

  1. Unlimited
  2. Two visits per month

Members can also purchase additional sessions at a 25% discount off the drop in rate.

Weight management phase
In our weight management phase we offer two levels of membership:

  1. One visit per month
  2. Six visits per year

Members can also purchase additional sessions at a 25% discount off the drop in rate.

All of our memberships are month-to-month and can be de-activated with 30 days written notice excluding the ‘6visits per year’ membership where a one year contract is required.

Our team consists of experts with a strong blend of education, experience, and empathy. Our team boasts over 40 years combined experience in the exercise and health field, with formal education ranging from Baccalaureate to Graduate degrees, exercise and coaching certifications and accreditations. Each coach brings a particular area of expertise ranging from exercise and health physiology, aging, motivational interviewing, behaviour change and communication theory, and shame resilience.

Exercise phase one
At FitMetabolism our weight loss coaches begin by teaming up with you to establish an exercise routine that fits into your life. Full consideration is given to your preferences, experience and schedule. This means that for some exercise takes the form of daily walking while for others it may be trail running or mountain biking. The key however is that a consistent, enjoyable exercise routine is built for life.

Exercise phase two
Upon establishing consistent and frequent exercise with your weight loss coach you may choose to work separately with one of our renowned conditioning specialists. Our conditioning specialists provide customized exercise programs that are designed specifically for your body, your fitness facility and your goals. If you are really looking for a challenge you may also choose to be personally trained by one of our conditioning specialists in our beautiful and private fitness facility.

Yes. We offer virtual services to individuals who do not live in Calgary. In fact we have active members throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
